Description

It’s time to bring Sonic CD into the future with this improved remake!

When Sonic finally arrives, the once-beautiful world has been sealed inside a twisted metallic shell. Dr. Eggman, his arch-enemy, has come for the Time Stones and will soon be able to manipulate time with their help!

Sonic must travel across time using the power of Little Planet to stop Dr. Eggman’s evil plans by destroying his devices in the past and finding the lost Time Stones. This will allow Sonic to free the future from Dr. Eggman’s control.
Experience the journey through time that made Amy Rose and Eggman’s most villainous invention, Metal Sonic, known to the world in 16:9 widescreen and with both the US and Japanese soundtracks.

Editor’s Review & How To Play

Sonic CD follows the same gameplay mechanics as Sonic 1, requiring the player to direct Sonic as he travels through horizontal levels while collecting gold rings to shield him from oncoming monsters. Additionally serving as bonus points for the game, collecting 100 gold rings will provide you a new life. Shields and speed boots are examples of throwaway goods. There are two regular levels, a boss encounter, and seven zones (Zones), each of which is broken down into three acts (Acts).

The time travel system, which enables Sonic to travel to the past or future by finding markers in the stages that indicate “past” or “future,” is the game’s most significant element. The environment, adversaries, and obstacles will all alter significantly as you move through the level. Futures can be good or bad, and generally speaking, going into the future will bring with it more adversaries and challenges. The adversaries will vanish entirely and the barriers will be significantly lowered if Sonic can travel back in time and take out the “robot generator” in the level. This will allow Sonic to travel forward in time and reach the GOOD path. The boss will be substantially weaker in the boss battle if you are able to take down the generator in both acts of a location. If all of the time stones are gathered, the game will also automatically enter the GOOD route. The player can explore several game scenes during the traversal to discover more about the story. Players can also make Tails an available character in the 2011 port. Players must gather at least 50 gold rings and look for the Secret Stages buried in the levels in order to find the Time Stones. To obtain a Time Stone in the Secret Stages, the player must shoot down 7 flying saucers in the sky within the allotted time. The player must gather all seven jewels or take the GOOD route through each level in order to get the ideal ending. There is a 10-minute time limit to finish the level, and if you don’t do it in that time, you’ll lose a life automatically. Additionally, the game will automatically finish if the player does nothing for three minutes, at which point Sonic will say, “I’m outta here,” leap out of the screen, and disappear.
